An attractive Georgian oak housekeeper’s cupboard, in superb original condition.
This particular example features a moulded cornice top above a two door cupboard. The cupboard doors are surrounded by mahogany cross banding with a boxwood and ebony surround between which are reeded column supports to either side. The doors open to reveal a fixed shelved interior, giving two spacious areas which still retains the original green painted finish.
The bottom section is an arrangement of two short drawers over three long, with each drawer having a moulded edge and brass swan neck handles. Again, the bottom section has mahogany cross banding with boxwood stringing and reeded column supports, mirroring the design of the upper cupboard section.
As previously noted, the condition of this item is superb, with light age related wear. We have noted a split on the left and right hand sides of the bottom sections where the panels join together but these do not detract from the imposing look of this majestic piece of country house furniture.
