A beautifully decorated slipware dish made from an original  fragment of 17th century origin, dug out of the soil at Longley Old Hall, Huddersfield.

On discovery, the owners of Longley Old Hall took their found stoneware fragements to John Hudson in Mirfield who recognised the pieces as dating to around 1645, and having come from Renthorpe in Wakefield.

Mr Hudsons wonderfully re-created piece, shown here, and based on the original piece, is decorated in trailed cream slip with tulips and wavy edged leaves radiating from the centre, edged with a trailed wavy line to the border.

The overall condition is superb no no marks, chips or losses.  Verso is a white felt pad stuck to the base, in order to protect polished surafces, and peeling back one side of this reveals the makers mark.

Other items shown within the images are available in separate listings.
