A George IV mahogany ladies writing desk, in the manner of Gillows, having a rectangular top above a fitted drawer.  Within the drawer is a baize easel writing slope, three ink compartments and a separate pen storage compartment.  Finished on turned tapering octagonal legs with brass castors.
 
The overall condition is excellent with a beautifully polished finish.  Wear and tear commensurate with age.  We have noted one small area on the top where the veneer has been replaced, and another chip to the edge which has also had the veneer replaced.
