An exceptional Charles II oak two drawer dresser base with amazing patina, finished on rare silhouette legs
This wonderful example of late 17th century furniture has a two plank oak top with a moulded edge, below which is a two drawer frieze with geometric moulding to the drawer fronts. The drawers each have a brass lock escutcheon and brass drop handles which are decorated with the image of a face.
Completing the look of this extraordinary piece of provincial country house furniture are a set of five vase shaped silhouette legs.
The overall condition is excellent, with age related wear and tear, as is to be expected of a 300+ year old piece of furniture. We have noticed a chaming historic repair to one of the rear legs, which has been braced with a steel bracket as well as having had the top section replaced.
A fine example that deserves to be cherished for another 300 years.
